Workers’ Party: US letter diplomatically and politically unacceptable

The Politburo of the Workers' Party of Bangladesh has said that the letter sent to Awami League by US Assistant Secretary of State for South and Central Asian Affairs Donald Lu is unacceptable.

The senior leaders of the party on Wednesday raised the question of whether an official of another country could write such a letter about the politics and elections of an independent country.

The Workers' Party motion said that the letter also threatened to enforce the visa policy, as it called for dialogue. Such a letter is not only unacceptable but also diplomatically and politically inept.

The Workers' Party meeting called Donald Lu's letter "mischievous" and said that the United States has, in fact, cast doubt on the election through its meddling.

The party's proposal calls upon the democratic political parties and the people to participate in the elections peacefully and unitedly against such foreign interference.
