The Rapid Action Battalion has deployed 460 patrol teams across Bangladesh, including Dhaka, to maintain law and order during the BNP’s blockade in two weeks.
Commander Khandaker Al Moin, director of RAB's legal and media wing, on Wednesday morning said the elite police unit had increased patrols keeping the 48-hour blockade and mind and was ready to tackle any situation.
The third phase of the BNP’s blockade started at 6am on Wednesday and will end at 6am on Friday.
Following a brief pause over the weekend, the BNP and its like-minded parties initiated a two-day nationwide blockade on Sunday with many of its top leaders behind bars.
After a rally on October 28 that was foiled by clashes with law enforcement, the BNP called a hartal the next day and subsequently announced a three-day countrywide blockade last week to protest attacks on its gathering and arrest of its senior leaders.
