Bangladesh Road Transport Owners Association and President of Bangladesh Sarak Paribahan Sramik Federation on Monday said that buses and goods-laden vehicles will continue to ply across Bangladesh including Dhaka city during the three-day blockade called by BNP.
The decision was taken at a joint meeting held at the office of Bangladesh Road Transport Owners Association, a press release said on Monday.
Bangladesh Road Transport Owners Association Mashiur Rahman Ranga, MP, Secretary General Enayet Ullah and General Secretary of the Sramik Federation Osman Ali, among others, were present at the meeting with Bangladesh Sarak Paribahan Sramik Federation President Shahjahan Khan, MP, in the chair.
The leaders urged the owners of the association and the Sramik federation to keep the movement of vehicles normal on all routes.
BNP-Jamaat’s criminals set fire to 13 vehicles and vandalized hundreds of vehicles across the country including Dhaka in the name of a rally and hartal program, they said.
Besides, a bus helper, Nayeem, who was in the bus of “Achim Paribahan” was also burnt to death in Dhaka. Burning of vehicles in the name of agitation will not be tolerated in any way, said the leaders.
According to the press release, the leaders strongly condemned and protested such destructive incidents and strongly demanded the relevant authorities of the government to urgently bring the terrorists involved in this incident under the law and provide exemplary punishment and take compensation measures.
The leaders requested the concerned police administrations to strengthen security measures at important places in district cities including Dhaka so that traffic movement is not obstructed during the days of the blockade.
BNP called the three-day countrywide blockade that begins on Tuesday.
