Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) has granted conditional permission to Awami League and BNP to conduct rallies at Baitul Mukarram's south gate and Nayapaltan, respectively, on Saturday.
During a press briefing, DMP's Additional Commissioner (Crime and Operations) KH Mahid Uddin, said they have imposed 20 conditions for these rallies.
However, Jamaat-e-Islami has not been permitted to hold their rally at Shapla Chattar.
DMP emphasized that rallies without permission will face legal action, and the parties must obtain the necessary approvals to use the venues.
The permission granted is exclusively for Awami League and BNP.
Some of the conditions include:
- Gathering at the venues will only be permitted after 12pm.
- The rallies must take place within the specified areas, and they must conclude between 2pm and 5pm.
- Speeches that are incendiary or against the state are prohibited during the rallies.
- Activists are not allowed to carry sticks or rods under the pretense of holding banners or decorations.
The decision to determine the rally venues for Saturday was made after the DMP announced that they needed to assess potential threats and security issues.
