Khulna will be a clean city. Cleaners will remove all types of garbage at night. No waste can be seen anywhere during the day, said Khaleque.
The city will be free of battery-run rickshaws. Unlicensed easy bikes will not allow plying in the city. Traffic order has to be restored in the city. Public awareness is needed to keep the city clean. Dispose of garbage should be kept in a designated place. No house or balcony should be allowed to throw garbage into the street or in the drain, he said.
The development works of drains and roads in Khulna metropolitan area are being delayed due to adverse weather conditions like untimely rains. City dwellers have to wait a bit for quality construction work. If there is any private under-construction structure in the place of the drain, it should be removed quickly for the development of the city and the sake of people.
City dwellers need to be aware to make Khulna a clean city. Citizens have to fulfill their responsibilities and duties, said the mayor.
He also said that after the mayoral election in 2018, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina allocated Tk607 crore for the development of roads in Khulna city and Tk823 crore for the development of drainage system and renovation of canals. All those works are currently underway. In future, everything necessary under the rules and laws will be done to control traffic congestion in the city, said Khaleque.
The construction of the four-lane bridge over the Mayur River will begin soon. People should be alert for quality development work. If any irregularity is found, it should be reported to the authorities, he added further.
