Ex-lawmaker MA Awal urges govt to send aid to Palestine

Progressive Islamic Alliance Chairman and former lawmaker MA Awal has requested the government to send relief to Palestinians, as they get battered by Israeli airstrikes.

Awal made the appeal at a discussion session at the National Press Club in Dhaka on Wednesday.

“On behalf of the Progressive Islamic Alliance, I strongly demand that the government immediately deliver the support of the 170 million people of Bangladesh to the war-torn Muslim brothers and sisters of Palestine. The government should use all possible means to immediately send relief.”

The ex-MP also said law enforcement agencies should be alert to prevent any untoward incident during the upcoming Durga Puja.

Awal said that since the general election would be held under the current government, the main responsibility of the administration was to bring all parties “under one roof.” “Democracy is better with everyone's participation… dealing with different situations and conspiracies becomes easier,” he added.

Divisions in politics needed to be minimized on the basis of concessions, Awal said.
