Planning Minister MA Mannan on Saturday said low-income people are suffering due to the rising prices of food and other essentials.
"The main issue currently is inflation, which has led to higher prices for goods, causing suffering among the low-income population. The government is actively working to provide relief to low-income people,” he said while answering questions from journalists in Sunamganj.
The minister also added: “The prime minister also believes that the country's economy is under pressure. While inflation has slightly decreased, it still requires further reduction. This is a problem, not a crisis."
Regarding the reserves, he said: "The country has sufficient dollars to cover three months of import expenses. The value of the dollar has increased, but it will stabilize at some point."
The planning minister said regarding BNP’s ongoing activities: "BNP speaks like an ancient astrologer. It will never be able to come to power through ongoing agitation. BNP leaders make false predictions like astrology, which will never come true. These things are unrealistic and surreal. They talk as if they were meteorologists."
