Desco customers experience power outage due to grid failure

A power outage hit almost all areas served by Dhaka Electric Supply Company Limited (Desco), including Mirpur, Uttara, and Banani, from around 12am on Friday due to a grid failure at the Aminbazar power grid.

Desco's hotline confirmed the outage, stating that repair work was underway.

An official stated that power had been partially restored in some parts of Mirpur, but details about the grid failure's cause remained uncertain.

In response to the crisis, Desco implemented alternative electricity supply methods in crucial areas of Gulshan, Banani, and Baridhara. Gradual restoration efforts commenced afterward.

Despite efforts to report issues, most phone numbers provided on Desco's website for customer complaints were found to be non-operational.

Dhaka's power supply is managed by two distribution companies, Dhaka Electricity Distribution Company (DPDC) and Dhaka Electricity Supply Company (Desco).

Desco serves areas including Tongi, Uttara, Uttarkhan, Dakshinkhan, Baridhara, Bashundhara, Khilkhet, Badda, Gulshan, Pallabi, Kafrul, Rupnagar, Ibrahimpur, Agargaon, Manipur, and Kalyanpur, many of which are still experiencing power outages.

The company is actively working to restore electricity to these affected regions.
