The government of Bangladesh exported some 45,800kg of ilish to India on Thursday.
The consignment was sent to India in 12 trucks through Benapole port. After completing the customs and port formalities, the shipments entered Petrapole port of India.
The export price of ilish has been fixed at $10 per kg.
The exporting companies are Mahima Enterprise, Tanisa Enterprise, Seven Star Fish Processing Company Limited, Ripa Enterprise and Pacific Sea Food.
SR International, Naz Impex Private Limited, Bimal Roy and Barkha Vikash Fish Agency Private Limited are the importers of India.
The Ministry of Commerce has given permission to 79 enterprises to export some 3,950 tons of ilish to neighboring India ahead of the Durga Puja.
The ministry issued permission in this regard on Wednesday and thus sent a letter to the Office of Chief Controller of Imports and Exports.
Each of the 79 exporting enterprises could export 50 tons of ilish.
No exporter will be able to export more than the quantity mentioned in the permission letter.
The deadline for exporting ilish will be in force until October 30. But, if the government imposes any restriction on the extraction and transportation of ilish during this period, then the permission for export would expire in line with the restriction.
