Light to moderate rain likely in 8 divisions including Dhaka

Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) on Thursday predicted light to moderate rain or thundershowers accompanied by temporary gusty wind is likely to occur at most places over the eight divisions across the country.

"Light to moderate rain or thundershowers accompanied by temporary gusty wind is likely to occur at most places over Dhaka, Rajshahi, Rangpur, Mymensingh, Khulna, Barisal, Chittagong and Sylhet divisions with heavy to heavy falls at places over the country," said a met office forecast for the next 24 hours commencing from 9am.

Day temperature may fall slightly and night temperature may remain nearly unchanged over the country.

The low-pressure area over northwest Bay and the adjoining area now lies over South Bihar and the adjoining area.

The axis of the monsoon trough runs through Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, centre of the low to Assam across the southern part of Bangladesh.

Monsoon is fairly active over Bangladesh and moderate elsewhere over North Bay.

Country's highest temperature on Wednesday was recorded at 33.5°C jointly at Rangpur district and Nilphamari’s Sayedpur upazila and lowest temperature on Thursday was recorded at 23.8°C at Tetulia.

Country's highest rainfall for the last twenty-four hours till 6am on Thursday was recorded by 66 millimetres (mm) in Chittagong’s Maijdee Court.

The sun will set at 5:57pm on Thursday and rises at 5:47am on Friday in the capital.
