Additional Inspector General of police (Addl IGP) Habibur Rahman has been appointed as the new commissioner of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP).
The public security division of the home ministry issued a notification in this regard on Wednesday.
The appointment will come into effect immediately, read the circular signed by Deputy Secretary Sirajum Munira.
Habibur, now the chief of Tourist Police, will replace outgoing Commissioner Khandker Golam Faruq.
Commissioner Khandker Golam Faruq’s term will end on October 2.
Accordingly, the new commissioner Habibur Rahman will assume his new role on October 3.
