Biman resumes flights to Guangzhou

Biman Bangladesh Airlines resumed its flights between Dhaka and China’s Guangzhou on Thursday.

Following the resumption, there are now six weekly round-trip flights on the route, with a capacity of 900 passengers, the Chinese embassy in Dhaka said.

The flights were suspended due to the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic.

Since the beginning of 2023, cross-border travel has "increased sharply" between China and Bangladesh, the embassy said.

"The Chinese Embassy in Bangladesh has been working actively to create favourable conditions and improve efficiency for visa applications and has issued over 30,000 visas in the past six months."

The resumption increases the number of weekly flights between China and Bangladesh to 50, including 30 flights to and from Guangzhou, 14 flights to and from Kunming, and six flights to and from Hong Kong.

Meanwhile, weekly passenger capacity will exceed 10,000, which will further facilitate people-to-people exchanges between China and Bangladesh and enhance bilateral cooperation in the fields of trade, culture, education and more, the embassy said.
