Met office predicts rain across Bangladesh

Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) on Wednesday predicted light to moderate rainfall in all eight divisions in the next 24 hours from 9am, as monsoon is fairly active over Bangladesh.

"Light to moderate rain or thunder showers accompanied by temporary gusty wind is likely to occur at many places over Chittagong and Sylhet divisions; at a few places over Khulna, Barisal and Mymensingh divisions and at one or two places over Rajshahi, Rangpur and Dhaka divisions with moderately heavy falls at places over the country," said a met release issued this morning.

However, the day temperature may rise slightly and night temperature may remain nearly unchanged over the country.

Country's maximum temperature on Tuesday was recorded at 35.2°C at Jessore, while Wednesday's minimum temperature was 25°C jointly at Kutubdia, Teknaf and Bandarban in Chittagong division and at Nikli in Dhaka division.

The highest rainfall in the last 24 hours till 6am on Wednesday was recorded at 50mm at Dimla in Rangpur division.

The sun sets at 6:05pm on Wednesday and rises at 5:44am on Thursday in the capital.
