Customs House, Dhaka authorities suspended four officials in connection with the theft of 55kg of gold from the Customs House warehouse at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport.
Customs House authorities gave this information on Tuesday.
The suspended officials are Assistant Revenue Officer Md Saidul Islam Shahed, Md Shahidul Islam, Masum Rana and Akram Sheikh.
Earlier, Assistant Revenue Officer of Dhaka Customs Department and the officer-in-charge of the warehouse Masud Rana said around 9am on September 2, he found the lock of a steel cupboard containing valuable goods of the customs department's warehouse near the Lost and Found branch of the airport broken. However, the matter was announced the next day.
After a day-long count in the warehouse of the airport's Custom House, the concerned authorities confirmed the disappearance of 55kg gold.
A case has been filed against unidentified persons in this incident.
The Customs House formed a five-member team under Joint Commissioner Minhaj Uddin to investigate the entire incident.
