The Ministry of Land issued a public notice on Monday, urging all not to get confused by fake news or rumours about the passing of the Land Crime Prevention and Remedy Act and the issuance of a gazette in this regard.
"Fake news or rumours are appearing on different social media sites and the internet, stating, 'The Land Crime Prevention and Remedy Act has been passed and a gazette has been issued'. A fake gazette is also being shared online. Such fake news or rumours are leaving adverse effects on people's minds and creating confusion, which is totally unwarranted," said the notice, signed by ministry spokesperson Syed Md Abdullah Al Nahiyan.
The ministry added that the process of preparing and approving the act is ongoing.
It recommended that everyone dial helpline 16122 or +8809612316122, or log in to the ministry's service page “Bhumiseba Land Service” and its Facebook page (www.facebook.com/land.gov.bd), to either comment or send messages to obtain any land-related information, get services, or file complaints.
