Jamalpur's Dewanganj Model police station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Shyamal Chandra Dhar has been withdrawn from his post and transferred to the district police lines for asking votes for ruling Awami League.
Jamalpur Superintendent of Police Md Kamruzzaman confirmed it on Friday night.
OC Shyamal Chandra Dhar, during a discussion meeting at Dewanganj Municipal Ground on August 15, urged everyone to work in favour of the Awami League in the upcoming national elections.
He said: "The election is approaching. Let us work for the party, so that we can once again ensure a triumphant victory for the Awami League government with a significant majority."
After a video of the OC's remarks spread on social media, it stirred debate and discussion.
