Weather forecast: Bangladesh may see less rain in next 72hrs

Bangladesh may see less rain over the next 72 hours (starting from 9am on Tuesday), according to the Meteorological Department’s (BMD) weather forecast.

“Light to moderate rain or thundershowers accompanied by temporary gusty wind are likely to occur at most places in the country with moderately heavy to very heavy falls in places,” the Met Office said.

The highest, 268mm, rainfall was recorded in Bandarban in 24 hours till 6am on Tuesday.

Day and night temperatures may remain nearly unchanged across the country, the weather forecast added.

Meanwhile, monsoon is active over Bangladesh and moderate to strong over the north Bay.

Signal 3 for maritime ports

Maritime ports of Chittagong, Cox’s Bazar, Mongla and Payra have been advised to keep local cautionary signal no 3 hoisted as deep convection is continuing over the North Bay due to strong monsoon.

Squally weather may affect the maritime ports,  North Bay and adjoining coastal areas of Bangladesh, said a special bulletin of the Met office on Tuesday.

All fishing boats and trawlers in the North Bay have been advised to remain close to the coast and proceed with caution till further notice added to the bulletin.
