Vibrant lights fill two galleries, showcasing pictures of destinations from all over Bangladesh.
Some capture attention with their exquisite beauty, while others evoke awe and wonder.
A total of 123 photographs have graced the walls, skillfully captured by talented women photographers from both Bangladesh and abroad.
This exceptional photo exhibition is taking place at National Shilpakala Academy’s galleries 6 and 7.
Bhromonkonna-Travelettes of Bangladesh organized the exhibition, which will go on from August 1 to August 7.
The primary objective of this exhibition is to inspire and empower women to explore the world through travel.
Bhromonkonna received more than 4,000 photos via email for the exhibition, and a panel selected the photos that would be shown in the exhibition.
The awards for best picture will be announced on the last day of the screening.
Bhromonkonna-Travelettes of Bangladesh
Since 2016, more than 74,000 women have travelled across Bangladesh, and Bhromonkonna-Travelettes of Bangladesh is ensuring such free and safe travel for them.
Dr Manoshi Saha, the co-founder of Bhromonkonna-Travelettes of Bangladesh, said: "Dr Sakia Haque Haque and I first thought of such a platform. At first, we along with a few other women visited 64 districts of the country. We intended to make more women like us come forward.
“The purpose of our exhibition is the same. A new magazine has launched where women wrote about their travel stories; it can inspire the audience to come to this exhibition. Apart from this, one of the objectives of the event is to represent Bangladesh through the exhibition.”
She noted that they have travelled to 199 countries so far. “This exhibition also had the purpose of bringing together all the women we have travelled with.”
She said as time passed by, many of them got separated.
Dr Manoshi Saha also said that the organization is also involved in many social activities.
Nusrat Jahan Rizvi, joint secretary of the organization said: “The social activities include advocating gender equality, women empowerment, and more. We go to different schools and teach girls self-defence techniques. More than 1,000 volunteers are working with us.”
The organization believes that through the exhibition, visitors can see and appreciate Bangladesh's beauty. These pictures, captured both by phone or camera, would inspire the audience to travel.
They have also organized some travel-focused games for the visitors.
In this regard, Nusrat Jahan Rizvi said: "We believe all these games would offer entertainment, and will inspire everybody to travel."
The organization also offers temporary accommodation for women tourists in seven areas of Bangladesh.
Nusrat Jahan Rizvi further said: "We have presented a model of a house in the exhibition which highlights the management of Bhromonkonna’s accommodation.”
She added: “In our country, it is still difficult for women to move around without a male partner… That's the idea that we want to break.”
She also highlighted that both men and women have the right to see the world, and women should have the ability to travel alone. “Our exhibition also puts a lot of emphasis on this issue.”
