A Dhaka court on Friday placed another accused on three-day remand in case lodged over attack on independent candidate Md Ashraful Hossain Alom, popularly known as Hero Alom, during Dhaka-17 by-polls on Monday.
Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Rajesh Chowdhury passed the order as police produced accused Talukder Masud before the court and pleaded to place him on seven-day remand.
Talukder Masud, president of the Karwanbazar Pick-up Owners Association, was arrested on Thursday afternoon, said Sub-inspector Nur Uddin of Banani Police Station.
"So far, we have arrested 10 people in connection with the incident. Efforts are on to nab the rest through video footage," he added.
Earlier, another court placed two main accused in the attack, Manik and Al Amin on three-day remand.
On July 18, another court had placed Sanowar Qazi and Biplob Hossain on three-day remand in the case.
The court also sent five other accused to jail on that day.
They are- Mahmudul Hasan, Mujahid Khan, Ashiq Sarker, Hridoy Sheikh and Sohel Mollah.
Hero Alom's personal assistant Sujan Rahman Shuvo lodged the case with Banani thana on July 18 accusing some 15-20 unknown people for the attack.
Hero Alom was subjected to physical assault in Dhaka's Banani area shortly before the end of voting on Monday.
He later alleged that ruling party men attacked him at Banani Bidyaniketan School and College polling centre in the afternoon “with the intention of murder.”
