Another equipment shipment for Rooppur plant reaches Mongla from Russia

The vessel MV Margaret arrived at Bagerhat's Mongla port directly from Russia with electrical equipment and machinery for the Rooppur nuclear power plant (RNPP).

The Russian-flagged vessel docked at jetty no 8 of the port on Tuesday afternoon.

The unloading work was scheduled to start in the evening.

Sadhan Kumar Chakraborty, manager (Operation Shipping) of Conveyor Shipping Lines, the local shipping agent of the foreign ship, said the ship left Port of Novorossiysk in Russia for Mongla on June 6 with 482.882 tons of electrical and mechanical products for the plant.

A total of 183 packages of electrical and mechanical products will be released from the ship from 7pm. It will take 48 hours to complete the unloading process. The ship will leave Mongla port on Thursday.

Later, the goods will be transferred to the Rooppur plant.

Earlier, on July 2, MV Liberty Harvest arrived in Mongla directly from Russia with cargo for the power plant.

Before that, MV Anka Sky on May 29, MV Anka Sun on May 6 and MV Yamal Orlan on April 25 brought machinery for the power plant directly from Russia.

It may be noted that the United States has imposed sanctions on 69 ships of seven Russian companies. The ships that are outside the purview of the ban are coming directly to Mongla port with equipment for the Rooppur plant from Russia. And the ships on the list are taking goods from Russia and sending them to this port via India.
