The government of Bangladesh on Thursday announced the appointment of new ambassadors in Italy, Ethiopia, Egypt, Vietnam, and a high commissioner in Malaysia.
Ambassador Md Monirul Islam is posted as the next Ambassador of Bangladesh to Italy while Sikder Bodiruzzaman to Ethiopia, Samina Naz to Egypt, and Md Lutfor Rahman to Vietnam.
Ambassador Md Shameem Ahsan has been appointed as the next high commissioner to Malaysia.
Italy
Ambassador Monirul Islam will replace Ambassador Md Shameem Ahsan in this capacity.
Monirul Islam is a career diplomat belonging to the 10th batch of BCS (Foreign Affairs) cadre.
He is currently serving as the ambassador of Bangladesh to Egypt with concurrent accreditation to DR Congo, Eritrea and the Arab League.
Before the current assignment, he served as the Bangladesh envoy to Morocco and Ethiopia in two consecutive stints as well as the Bangladesh Consul General in New York in another.
Joining the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in 1991, he also served in different capacities in Bangladesh missions in Singapore, Brunei, Madrid, Beijing, Ottawa, and Brasilia.
Hailing from Brahmanbaria, Ambassador Islam did his BSS and MSS in Economics from the University of Dhaka. Later on, he obtained another Master's degree in Foreign Affairs and Trade from Monash University, Australia.
Ethiopia
The government has appointed Sikder Bodiruzzaman as the next ambassador of Bangladesh to Ethiopia.
He will be replacing Ambassador Md Nazrul Islam in this capacity.
A career diplomat, Sikder Bodiruzzaman belongs to the 17th batch of BCS (Foreign Affairs) Cadre.
Joining the service in 1998, he is now serving as the director general at the East Europe and CIS Wing of the ministry.
In his long distinguished diplomatic career, he served in various capacities in Bangladesh missions in Hong Kong, New Delhi, Riyadh and Manila.
He was also the Bangladesh consul general in Dubai.
Hailing from Khulna, Bodiruzzaman did his BA and MA in English Language and Literature from Rajshahi University.
He also completed several professional training courses both at home and abroad and represented Bangladesh in numerous bilateral and multilateral meetings.
Egypt
Ambassador Samina Naz has been appointed as the next ambassador of Bangladesh to Egypt. She will be replacing Ambassador Md Monirul Islam in this capacity.
Ambassador Naz is a career diplomat belonging to the 15th batch of BCS (Foreign Affairs) cadre.
She is currently serving as the ambassador of Bangladesh to Vietnam with concurrent accreditation to Lao PDR. Before the current assignment, she was serving as the deputy high commissioner at Bangladesh Deputy High Commission in Mumbai.
Joining the Foreign Service in 1995, she also served in different capacities in Bangladesh Missions in The Hague, New Delhi, and the Permanent Mission of Bangladesh to the UN in New York.
Hailing from Dhaka, Ambassador Samina Naz did her BSS and MSS in International Relations from the University of Dhaka. She also took part in several professional training courses both at home and abroad.
Malaysia
Ambassador Md Shameem Ahsan, the serving Bangladesh envoy to Italy, has been appointed as the next high commissioner of Bangladesh to Malaysia.
He is going to replace Ambassador Md Golam Sarwar in this capacity.
A career diplomat, Ambassador Md Shameem Ahsan belongs to the 11th batch of BCS (Foreign Affairs) Cadre.
He joined Foreign Service in 1993 and served extensively both at home and abroad ever since.
In his diplomatic career, apart from his current assignment, he also served as the high commissioner of Bangladesh to Nigeria, and Consul General of Bangladesh in New York; as well as in various capacities at such Bangladesh missions as Kuwait, Doha, Nairobi, Rome and Washington DC.
Born in Pirojpur, Ambassador Ahsan did his BSS and MSS in Political Science from the University of Dhaka. He also completed several professional training courses both at home and abroad.
Vietnam
The government has decided to appoint Md Lutfor Rahman as the next ambassador of Bangladesh to Vietnam. He will replace Ambassador Samina Naz in this capacity.
A career diplomat, Lutfor Rahman belongs to the 17th batch of BCS (Foreign Affairs) Cadre.
Joining the Foreign Service in 1998, he is now serving as the Bangladesh consul general in Toronto.
Before that, he was serving as the deputy high commissioner at Bangladesh Deputy High Commission in Mumbai. In his distinguished diplomatic career, he also served in various capacities in Bangladesh missions in Hanoi, Karachi, Riyadh and Rabat.
Born in Thakurgaon, Md Lutfor Rahman graduated in Engineering from the Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (Buet).
