Atiqul: 300,000 vehicles broke traffic signals over a month in Gulshan 2

As many as 300,000 vehicles have broken traffic signals in the last one month, Dhaka North City Corporation Mayor Atiqul Islam has said.

The mayor was addressing a workshop on road safety, arranged by the Bloomberg Philanthropies Initiative for Global Road Safety (BIGRS) at Nagar Bhaban, on Thursday.

“Vehicle movement is being monitored through AI on a trial basis at the Gulshan 2 intersection. What we have found by monitoring the traffic in this area for the last month is frightening.

“We will present this information to the home minister on July 11. In view of this, if the ministry greenlights it, the AI-based traffic control system will be introduced in Gulshan in coordination with the DMP (Dhaka Metropolitan Police) Traffic Division.”
