To celebrate Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman's birth centenary and golden jubilee of independence, Bangladesh STEM Foundation (bdSTEM) organized the National STEM Fest's closing ceremony on Sunday.
Post and Telecommunications Minister Mustafa Jabbar attended the event online as the chief guest, said a press release.
MP Tanvir Hasan and former principal secretary to the prime minister Abdul were also present at the event.
Dr Al-Nakib Chowdhury, senior professor of Chemistry and bdSTEM's president, presided over the event.
The National STEM Competition-2021 is organized to motivate the youth to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG)-2030, as well as to learn about the thoughts and plans of the youth.
The young generation of Bangladesh need to learn Nanotechnology, Cloud Computing, IoT, and other skills in order to adapt to the Fourth Industrial Revolution, said the speakers present at the event.
There were 238 projects submitted for this competition, and 33 were selected at the preliminary stage. Each of the projects will be given a research grant of Tk15,000, said the press release.
The team named Buet IDRICO won first place in the final competition. They have received a grant of Tk2 lakh for the implementation of their project.
The first runner up, Ruet_Mascot received a research grant of Tk1 lakh and the second runner up Cuet_Checkmate19, received a research grant of Tk75,000.
The winning teams will also get technical support from bdSTEM to implement their projects.
As part of the National Stem Fest last year, a two-day International Virtual Symposium on "Nanotechnology and Innovations for 4IR in Asia-Pacific and Beyond" was held last month.
The conference presented 21 papers on Nanotechnology, Sustainable Development, Biomedical Engineering, Materials Science, Information Technology, Biotechnology, Climate Change from eight countries, including Bangladesh.
