President leaves London for Dhaka

President Abdul Hamid left London for Dhaka on Monday, wrapping up his 15-day visit to Germany and the United Kingdom (UK) for a health check-up and eye treatment.

"A VVIP flight (BG 202) of Biman Bangladesh Airlines Limited carrying the president and his entourage left Heathrow Airport at 5:50pm (London time)," Ashequn Nabi Chowdhury, minister (press) at the High Commission of Bangladesh in London, told BSS.

Bangladesh High Commissioner to the United Kingdom (UK) Saida Muna Tasneen and senior officials of the Bangladesh Mission in London saw the president off at the airport, he added.

Meanwhile, President's Deputy Press Secretary Munshi Jalal Uddin said the aircraft was expected to land at Hazrat Shahjalal (R) International Airport on Tuesday morning.

The head of the state on October 9 left Dhaka for Berlin, the capital of Germany, and from there he reached London on October 19.

The 77-year-old president has long been suffering from glaucoma. He used to have health check-ups in London and Germany when he was the speaker of the parliament.
