The Supreme Court ordered that the two children — aged 11 and 9 — will be in their Japanese mother’s custody until January 23.
Their Bangladesh-born US citizen father can visit them every day during this period and the children must be allowed to go to school, the Appellate Division said on Monday.
The order by the three-member full bench led by Chief Justice Hasan Foez Siddique came after hearing a petition by the mother Eriko Nakano a High Court verdict and seeking custody of the children.
The court told Eriko to file a leave-to-appeal petition by January 23.
In its verdict on November 21, the High Court gave the custody of the girls to their father Imran Sharif and said that the mother would be allowed to visit them thrice a year.
Eriko would be able to visit her children for 10 days at a time exclusively and Imran will have to bear her travel and other relevant expenses during the time, the High Court said.
The mother would be able to meet her daughters in Bangladesh at any other time at her own expenses, said the verdict.
