Bangladesh reported 16 deaths from Covid-19 in the 24 hours to 8am on Sunday.
The caseload jumped by 314 during the same time, according to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).
As many as 18,097 samples were tested across the country, yielding a test positivity rate of 1.74%.
With the latest development, the total number of deaths reached 27,768, while the number of total infections rose to 1,565,488 in the country.
On the other hand, another 529 patients recovered from the infectious disease across the country, taking the total number of recoveries to 1,527,862.
The seven-day moving average of single-day deaths in Bangladesh was 11.42 on Sunday.
In terms of deaths per division, Dhaka logged the highest with seven fatalities followed by Chittagong with three. Khulna, Rajshahi and Mymensingh counted two death each.
Of the new patients, Dhaka logged 208 cases, the highest among the divisions, followed by Chittagong with 61.
Meanwhile, the latest figures have put the recovery rate at 97.6% and the mortality rate at 1.77%.
Around 38.04 million people in the country have received their first dose of the Covid-19 vaccine. Of them, some 18.92 million have taken both doses, according to DGHS data on Saturday.
Bangladesh reported its first three cases of Covid-19, a severe acute respiratory illness caused by a strain of coronavirus later named Sars-CoV-2, on March 8 last year. The first death was reported 10 days later.
The fast-spreading coronavirus has so far claimed over 4.9 million lives and infected more than 241 million people throughout the world, according to Worldometer.
More than 218.49 million people have recovered from the disease, which has affected 223 countries and territories across the planet.
