The National Committee on Cyber Security Awareness Month-2021 organized the webinar titled ‘Careers in Cyber Security’ on Saturday, which was broadcast live on Dhaka Tribune.
The month-long awareness program is being run under the auspices of mobile phone operator Robi Axiata Limited and technology service provider Cyber Paradise.
According to the US Bureau of Labour Statistics, the job market for information security analysts will grow by 32% by 2028, which makes it one of the fastest growing job fields.
The international organization Cyber Security Ventures has found that there will be 3.5 million jobs in cyber security by this year. This means that cybersecurity professionals are at the top of the demand in the job market worldwide. It will continue in the coming years.
Sheikh Ghalib Rahman, adviser of Cyber Crime Awareness Foundation (CCA Foundation) and chief executive officer of Transfotech, a US-based technology company said that the scope of work as a cyber security expert is wide.
According to the US Cyber Security Framework, there are opportunities to build skills in 222 types of work in the world of cyber security. So interested young people can choose any one to improve themselves and professionally, increase skills and expand the personal range, he added.
Ahsanuzzaman Sujon, group head of Human Resources of Bangladesh Finance, said that in the pandemic situation, the job-portals on job information in Bangladesh have seen a decline in employment in various sectors.
However, there were exceptions to some of the special tasks. The IT sector is one of them. There were a good number of job advertisements for various jobs in this sector, he added.
If the need to recruit manpower in the cyber security sector can be properly understood by the authorities of the organizations, if they can identify the risk issues, they will also give importance to the issue and the employment opportunities will gradually increase in Bangladesh, said Sujon.
Syed Kamran Ahmed, chief security officer of Islami Bank Bangladesh, said if anyone works with proper planning for just one year, it is possible to create their own skills and good employment opportunities in the field of cyber security.
