At least three people were killed, and five injured in two separate road crashes in Munshiganj on Sunday.
Two people including a police constable were killed and three others were injured as a speeding microbus hit them in front of Padma Uttar police station in Munshiganj on Sunday.
Constable Md Motaleb Miah, 32, was posted at Mawa Traffic Point while the identities of the deceased woman and the injured victims could not be known immediately.
Alamgir Hossain, officer-in-charge of Padma Uttar police station, said the Shariatpur-bound microbus from Gazipur's Tongi knocked down five people around 9:30am when a tyre of the vehicle got punctured.
The injured were taken to a local hospital where constable Motaleb succumbed to his injuries, he said, adding the rest are receiving treatment there.
The bodies were sent to the Munshinganj General Hospital morgue for autopsy, the police officer said.
The microbus was seized but its driver managed to flee.
On the other hand, another person was killed, and two others were injured when a pickup van rammed into a Mawa-bound covered van at around 6am on Sunday.
Locals rushed them to Sreenagar Upazila Health Complex, where the driver of the pickup succumbed to his injuries.
Two injured victims have been sent to Dhaka Medical College Hospital for better treatment, said Sreenagar Fire Service and Civil Defence Station Officer Mahfuz Riben.
Both vehicles involved in the crash have been seized.
