Abducted child rescued from mountain, 4 detained

Khairul Amin, 12, who had been abducted, was rescued by the police from the barren hills of Rangikhali in Hnila union of Teknaf, Cox's Bazar on Wednesday afternoon.

The detained kidnappers are Md Alam, 27, Ahmed Hossain, 52, Md Parvez, 20, and Aziza Khatun, 21.

According to police, on June 16, Khairul left in the auto rickshaw of Alam, a member of the kidnapping gang, to go to his friend Farhad's house in Rangikhali area.

Alam took Khairul Amin to the abductors in the Rangikhali hills instead of his friend's house.

There, he tied Khairul's face and beat him and called his family and demanded a ransom of Tk6 lakh. Later, when the family made a complaint to the police station, the police conducted a raid and rescued the kidnapped child Khairul Amin and detained the four kidnappers involved in the incident.

Teknaf Model police station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Abdul Halim said that the family of the abducted child Khairul Amin filed a general diary at the police station after the abduction. Following the complaint, auto rickshaw driver Alam was arrested.

Later, with the help of the local people and the village police, raids were conducted in Rangikhali hills. At one point, the members of the kidnapping gang who were stationed in the hill ran away after being spotted by the police leaving behind Khairul Amin.

OC Abdul Halim also said that four members of the kidnapping gang involved in the incident have been detained and sent to court. Police operations are continuing to nab the other accused.
