Islami Andolan to hold countrywide movement on June 16

Islami Andolan Bangladesh will hold nationwide protests on June 16 against the attack on its mayor nominee Mufti Syed Faizul Karim.

This information was revealed in a statement signed by Maulana Yunus Ahmed, secretary general of the party, on Tuesday.

Maulana Yunus Ahmed criticized the Election Commission in the statement, alleging that the commission had displayed a severe failure during the City Corporation elections.

He stated: "With this commission in place, holding national elections is not possible."

He further added: "The Election Commission failed to ensure the security of a mayoral candidate."

In light of these circumstances, Maulana Yunus called for the resignation of the election commissioner.

Yunus added: "Through the shedding of a mayoral candidate's blood, the occupation of polling stations by foreign militants, and the assault on voters, the Awami League's victory signifies the manifestation of tyranny."
