A video showing supporters belonging to Islamic Andolan Bangladesh-backed mayoral contestant marching with sticks and rods during the Barisal City Corporation (BCC) polls time went viral on social media.
Donned in punjabi and skullcap on head, a large column of supporters can be seen walking with sticks, rods and objects made from bamboo.
The video shows people from different ages taking part in the march.
Pointing to the video, netizens have questioned whether such demonstration can be pointer to stoke large scale violence and even questioned law enforcement agencies' role on this.
Such a violent march clearly instills a sense of fear among the voters, clearly an act of intimidation, wrote one user.
Mufti Syed Muhammad Faizul Karim, and several other party men have been injured in a clash allegedly carried out by Awami League activists.
Mufti Syed Muhammad Faizul Karim alleged that some 30-40 boat symbol supporters attacked them with sticks near Hatim Ali College after they left Sabera Khatun Girls' Secondary School polling centre on Monday.
However, Awami League's chief Election Agent Afzalul Karim denied all allegations and said their party men were not involved in the clash or attack.
After the attack incident, Islami Andolan followers were seen entering the city with sticks in their hands.
Afzalul Karim lodged a written complaint to the Returning Officer Humayun Kabir in this regard.
