PM Hasina: Awami League established rule of law in Bangladesh

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on Monday said the Awami League government has established the rule of law in Bangladesh, breaking away from the culture of impunity.

“The BNP instigated a culture of impunity in the country, beginning with the indemnity ordinance that concealed the assassination of our nation's father, Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and his family. This was a gross violation of human rights,” she said while congratulating the newly elected leaders of the Bangladesh Supreme Court Bar Association at a courtesy meeting at Ganabhaban.

Mentioning that arrangements have been made by the Awami League government to ensure that Bangladeshi people receive justice, the premier said: “Our government has digitized the justice system so that people can get justice in a short time without suffering. We have made it virtual during the Covid-19 pandemic so that people can get justice from the comfort of their homes in a short time.”

The prime minister acknowledged the fact that people are suffering due to load-shedding caused by the electricity crisis and assured that the government is taking necessary measures to abate the situation.

The premier also mentioned that the uninterrupted democratic continuity of the government has resulted in unprecedented development over the past 14 years.

“Thanks to the relentless efforts of the Awami League government over the past fourteen years, Bangladesh has evolved into a developing country. We are working to transform Bangladesh into a developed and prosperous country,” the prime minister added.
