Law ministry clarifies Minister Anisul's choice of words on polls-time govt

In a recent ministry circular, it has been acknowledged that confusion has arisen due to the statement made by Law, Justice, and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Anisul Huq regarding the government during the election period.

The minister made the statement during a training program for judges at the Judicial Administration Training Institute in the capital on Sunday.

The circular states that while responding to questions from journalists, the minister unintentionally made an error in his choice of words concerning the formation of the government during the election period. To eliminate any confusion caused, the ministry has provided clarification.

According to the notification issued by the law ministry, in response to the journalists' questions Anisul Huq stated: "As per our constitution, our country follows the Westminster-style parliamentary system of government. In this regard, when the prime minister decides to form a small or interim government, she has the authority to do so. I believe there is no ambiguity in this matter. The prime minister has already outlined the composition of the government during the election."
