A female cabin crew member of Biman Bangladesh Airlines has been cleared of charges of smoking while in uniform onboard a flight.
Biman authority took the decision last week without forming any inquiry committee.
However, the crew was served only a show-cause letter while she was grounded after the incident.
Biman authority cleared the allegation against her based only on the reply to the notice.
The national flag carrier said it did not find any evidence to support the charges.
Cabin crew member Marian Adhikary Mery was seen smoking a cigarette and chatting with her colleagues in a video clip obtained by Dhaka Tribune.
The incident took place in the last week of April.
According to an official at Biman Flight Operations, smoking is strictly prohibited on flights, including in lavatories, which also have smoke detectors.
Biman later issued Mery a show-cause notice, giving her 96 hours to give an explanation and warning that it would take action according to its rules if the explanation was not satisfactory.
At that time, Biman Managing Director and CEO Shafiul Azim called it a minor issue.
