Cyclone Mocha: All educational institutions in coastal areas closed

The government has decided to close all educational institutions in the coastal region from Sunday until further notice. 

The decision has been taken due to the situation arising due to the strong cyclone Mocha formed in the Bay of Bengal. 

Secondary and Higher Education Department Director (Colleges and Administration) Professor Shahedul Khabir Chowdhury said: "All educational institutions in coastal areas where Cyclone Mocha is likely to hit will remain closed.

"The educational institution will run as usual after the situation get back to normal. We are talking to the Meteorological Department and after talking with them we can fix a time for how long it will be closed," he added. 

He also said: "We will fix a time for how long the educational institutions will be closed after discussing with the Meteorological Department."

Meanwhile, the examination held under the Chittagong Board, Comilla Board, Jessore Board, Barisal Board, Bangladesh Madrasa Education Board and Bangladesh Technical Education Board has been postponed for two days due to the severe cyclone.
