A child died after being hit by a pickup van in Mohammadpur, Dhaka, late on Thursday.
The deceased was Md Sabbir Ahmed, 12, a student of a local madrasa.
Pedestrians Tanjil Hossain Rana and Srabon Hossain, who had taken Sabbir to Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH), said some children were playing in the street in the Pulpar area when the pickup struck and critically injured the 12-year-old.
Inspector Bacchu Mia of DMCH police outpost said the police station concerned had been informed about the incident.
