Police: 2 top Rohingya criminals arrested in Cox’s Bazar

The Armed Police Battalion (APBn) claims to have arrested four people including two top Rohingya criminals in Cox's Bazar's Teknaf upazila in the early hours of Tuesday.

The two suspected criminals are Noor Hasan, 24, of Alikhali camp in Teknaf and Fayazul Islam alias Doctor, 24, of Nayapara camp. 

Their accomplices Nasima Begum, 43, was arrested with 46 yaba tablets and Noor Begum, 46, with 51 tablets.

The APBn also seized weapons from the possession. 

According to the APBn, Noor Hasan is the leader of the Chhole group and Fayazul Islam is the leader of the Salman Shah group. There are several cases against them including over drug possession and murder.

Teknaf 16-APBn Superintendent of Police Jamal Pasha said: "On information, the APBn team conducted an operation in the area."

"Rohingya leader Noor was arrested with weapons while trying to escape. Later, on the basis of the information given by him, Fayazul was arrested with firearms in Nayapara camp," he added.

He also said:' "Apart from this, two Rohingya women associates of the two top Rohingya criminals were  arrested in a separate operation, along with yaba tablets." 

They were sued and turned over to local police, he added.
