This year local administration has not fixed any schedule for harvesting mango in Chapainawabganj.
There will be no fixed time for plucking and marketing mangoes but those can be harvested only when they get matured, said Chapainawabganj Deputy Commissioner AKM Galiv Khan while speaking at a meeting on safe and chemical-free mango production and marketing held at his office on Wednesday.
However, they have decided to take strict action if anyone tries to pluck and market immature mangoes.
The meeting decided to conduct mobile court drives to check use of chemicals on mangoes and a monitoring team will be remain in force to ensure marketing of safe and chemical-free mangoes.
Besides, a special train will run for transporting mangoes at a low cost and quickly.
According to the Department of Agriculture Extension, there are mango orchards on 37,588 hectares of land in the Chapainawabganj district and it set a target to produce 4,40,956 tones of mangoes.
