Youth held for leaking SSC question papers, spreading rumours

Cyber Police Centre of Criminal Investigation of Police (CID) has arrested in a raid in Gulshan area of Dhaka for allegedly leaking question papers of SSC and equivalent exams and spreading rumours. 

The arrestee is Himel Mustakim. 

At that time, the mobile phone used by him was seized, according to a press release issued on Monday.

Recently, Himel Mustakim gave a post on Facebook in a group named SSC BATCH 2023 that he has the SSC exam question papers. In the post, he mentioned that if anyone wanted to get 100% common questions of SSC 2023 Bengali first paper, then they should contact him. The question would be provided between 4am-6am on the exam day.

Later, he added several SSC candidates to his Facebook page named “Question All board”. Then he began charging Tk1,550 from each person to get added to the WhatsApp group where he would supply the questions. 

When the whole matter came to the notice of CID's cyber monitoring team, Himel was identified and arrested on Monday from Gulshan area of Dhaka.

During regular social media monitoring by Cyber Terrorism Investigation Team of CTTC, Sub Inspector (Retd) Md Hussain Patwari found that a dishonest group was using a Facebook page to extort money in the name of leaking SSC exam question papers by campaigning on Facebook, Messenger and WhatsApp with various packages for the purpose.

Earlier, the Cyber Terrorism Investigation Team of the City-Cyber Crime Investigation Department arrested Robin Babu, 21, the mastermind of the gang, on April 30 under Dhunat police station, Bogra district. 

In this regard, Ramna police station filed a case under Digital Security Act.
