Charges pressed against 5 over GM Quader's cell phone snatching

Police have filed a charge sheet against five people over the theft of Jatiya Party Chairman GM Quader's cell phone.

The accused in the charge sheet are Md Azizul, 21, Md Aziz, 19, Md Ismail, 24, Md Sanaullah, 32, and Subal Chandra Ghosh, 32.

Airport Police Station Sub-Inspector Rubel Sheikh, also the investigation officer of the case, filed the charge sheet at the Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Court.

The case has been transferred to Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Mohammad Jashim's court for trial, where the judicial proceedings will take place.

According to the charge sheet, Azizul had snatched GM Quader's phone, which he later sold to Ismail for Tk18,000. Ismail then sold the phone to Sanaul for Tk20,000 and Sanaul sold it to Subal for Tk22,000, from whom the stolen iPhone was later recovered.

Azizul and Aziz were arrested in the airport area on September 7 last year. Ismail was arrested in the Hatirjheel area on the same day. Sanaul and Subal were arrested in Bashundhara City later that day.

Police handed over the phone to GM Quader at his residence in Uttara on September 8.

According to the case, Jatiya Party Chairman GM Quader's mobile phone was snatched on September 3.

Md Toyob, assistant personal secretary of GM Quader, filed a case with the Airport Police Station in this regard the next day.
