International Noise Awareness Day observed

The International Noise Awareness Day 2023 was observed across the country on Tuesday.

The day that promotes awareness of the detrimental effects of commotion on the well-being and health was observed this year with the theme “Protect Your Ears, Protect Your Health”.

The Department of Environment (DoE) organized an anti-noise pollution campaign in 64 districts of the country. Besides, the DoE carried out different awareness programs including workshops, rallies and distributed leaflets among the masses across the country.

Also mobile courts of the DoE were active in different areas of the country with an aim to curb noise pollution.

As part of the campaign, different government websites included pop-up messages for visitors while mobile phone operators sent text messages to cell phone users across the country. Also, different newspapers published articles and highlighted the importance of the day.

Speakers at a workshop stressed the need for creating awareness among the people in reducing noise pollution. They opined that people from all walks of life must come together in this regard.

The International Noise Awareness Day was founded by the Centre for Hearing and Communication (C.H.C.) in 1996 as an occasion to raise awareness about the mental and physical health effects of noise pollution.
