The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has advised citizens to avoid any travel to Sudan as fighting between the army and paramilitary forces led by rival generals rage on in the African country.
Severe armed conflict has recently erupted in Sudan, causing casualties and disrupting the supply of food and basic necessities. This conflict is going on in Khartoum city and different parts of the country including Khartoum airport.
A notification issued by the ministry said it is not safe for Bangladeshis to travel to Sudan now. All Bangladeshi nationals are therefore advised not to travel there until further notice. This suggestion has been communicated to the relevant ministries and agencies of Bangladesh.
The Bangladesh mission in Sudan is also advising Bangladeshis living there in this regard.
The Sudanese armed forces, under the leadership of General Abdel Fattah al-Burhan, and the powerful Rapid Support Forces (RSF) paramilitary, led by Mohamed Hamdan Daglo have exchanged accusations of provoking the conflict.
Meanwhile, Sudan's army said on Saturday it had agreed to help evacuate foreign nationals as sporadic gunfire and air strikes echoed across Khartoum despite promises by warring sides to cease fire for three days after a week of strife that has killed hundreds.
