The Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) and the Indian Border Security Force (BSF) on Saturday exchanged festive greetings on the occasion of Eid-ul-Fitr at the Hili border in Dinajpur.
Both forces presented each other with sweets as a symbol of goodwill and friendship.
BGB Hili ICP Camp Commander Subedar Ohidul Islam and BSF Hili Camp Commander Inspector Ramesh Kumar met at the zero line on behalf of their respective forces at around 10:30am.
They also discussed various border-related issues. BGB Checkpoint Commander Ayub Ali, along with other BGB and BSF members, was present at the time.
Ramesh Kumar said: "On the occasion of Eid, the BSF has presented sweets as gifts to the BGB to convey our best wishes. We wish a happy Eid to all the people of Bangladesh."
Subedar Ohidul Islam said they offered the BSF sweets on the occasion of Eid-ul-Fitr to maintain harmony and brotherhood with the Indian force.
"This tradition of exchanging sweets and best wishes has been going on for a long time at the Hili border," he added.
