BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia's Adviser Khandaker Abdul Muktadir was arrested by the Sylhet Airport police on Saturday.
He was apprehended at around 3:30pm at the MAG Osmani International Airport, confirmed Sylhet Metropolitan Police (SMP) Additional Deputy Commissioner Sudip Das.
“Muktadir was arrested due to a warrant against him in an old case filed with Kotwali police station,” said Sudip Das.
Delwar Hossain Dinar, the general secretary of the district Chhatra Dal, said the police arrested Muktadir immediately after he left the airport.
“When asked about the reason for the arrest, police said there was a warrant against him in a case. Other than that, they are not providing any information about the nature of the case or when it was filed,” he said.
