Minister: Bangladesh first choice for European RMG importers

Minister of Environment, Forest and Climate change Md Shahab Uddin has said that Bangladesh is the first choice for European RMG importers when it comes to quality apparel at a reasonable price.

“Bangladesh exported $1 billion worth of software to western countries in 2022. Bangladesh is now the 35th largest economy in the world,” he said as chief guest at a program arranged by the Bangladesh Embassy in Denmark on the occasion of the 52nd Anniversary of the independence of Bangladesh, on Tuesday afternoon at the Everest Ballroom 1, Crowne Plaza Hotel, Orsted, Copenhagen, Denmark.

“Despite the hardship from the pandemic, our economy managed to grow at a rate of 7.1% during the last fiscal year. GDP is now $2,840, four times what we had a decade ago.”Dhaka Tribune

The minister said Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman dedicated his entire life to freeing his people and championing the legitimate rights of the oppressed and his daughter Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has led Bangladesh from ashes to a middle-income country during her tenure.

The people of the country are now striving towards becoming a developed, smart Bangladesh by the year 2041 as envisioned by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, said Shahab Uddin. 

He also said Bangladesh and Denmark marked the 50th year of Diplomatic relations last year.

“Denmark is a major development partner of Bangladesh as it continues to provide valuable support to Bangladesh's economic development by providing technical and financial assistance in diverse sectors. 

Denmark is now one of the largest destinations of exports from Bangladesh, and it is a matter of satisfaction that the bilateral trade between the two countries has crossed over $1 billion during the last fiscal year.”

Ambassador of Bangladesh to Denmark AKM Shahidul Karim, State Secretary for Development Policy of Denmark Lotte Machon, members of the diplomatic corps and members of the Bangladesh community in Denmark were present on the occasion.
