Malaysia has decided to stop the approval of new employee recruitment.
However, Ministry of Expatriates' Welfare and Overseas Employment Senior Secretary Dr Ahmed Munirus Saleheen on Monday assured that those who have filled the database to go to Malaysia from Bangladesh have nothing to worry about as they will not face any obstacles to move.
He said: “Today (Monday) we had a working group meeting with Malaysia. We have integrated our online system with theirs. We hope it will be implemented by April 15.”
“Through this system, recruitment and clearance would be coordinated with them ensuring a smoother movement of the workers,” he added.
He said: “Comparing with the number of work orders we have received, that many workers have not been able to go abroad yet. We have asked for additional centres for visa processing and asked them to look into the matter as soon as possible.”
Mentioning that the meeting discussed reducing the cost of sending workers to Malaysia, the senior secretary said that he told them to monitor the factors in this regard. Employers are expected to bear most of the cost of moving workers from Bangladesh.
He added that the main discussion of the meeting was to speed the processing of sending the workers to Malaysia.
