JMB member on the run for 17 years arrested

The Anti Terrorism Unit of Bangladesh Police has arrested a member of the banned militant outfit Jama'atul Mujahideen Bangladesh, who remained a fugitive for 17 years ever since being accused in a case filed on charges of making bombs in Barisal in 2007.

Md Emdadul Huq alias Emdad Ullah, 45, was arrested in an overnight drive in the Feni Circuit House area on Thursday night, said ATU Superintendent of Police (Media) Mohammad Aslam Khan.

He was in hiding for 17 years at different places including Feni as he was under trial in a case filed for allegedly carrying out subversive activities against the state at Kotwali police station.

Emdad Ullah also stayed in Saudi Arabia from 2010 to 2014 after entering the country on an Umrah visa.
