The tenth death anniversary of former minister and Awami League general secretary, Abdul Jalil, was observed on Monday.
Jalil was also the founding Chairman of Mercantile Bank Limited.
A memorial meeting and Doa Mahfil will be held on Tuesday marking the anniversary at Hotel Purbani in the capital where Commerce Minister Tofail Ahmed and the bank's present Chairman Morshed Alam, MP, will be present.
Family members of the late minister organized special prayers at his village home in Chakpran area of Naogaon. The members of the family also visited the grave of the veteran politician.
Abdul Jalil was born on 21 January 1939 in an aristocratic Muslim family. He matriculated from Naogaon KD Government High School in 1957, Intermediate from Bogra Azizul Haque College in 1960, BA (Honours) from Dhaka University in 1963 and MA in 1964.
