The Junior Chamber International (JCI) Cox's Bazar chapter handed over the command to their new president, Sheikh Ashikuzzaman.
Immediate-past president Abu Farhan handed over the local president chain to the newly-elected president at a gala event at the Sayeman Beach Resort at Cox's Bazar on Friday night.
Shaimum Sarwar Kamal, lawmaker of Cox's Bazar-3 constituency attended as the chief guest while Commodore Mohammed Nurul Absar, chairman of Cox's Bazar Development Authority was the guest of honor and Abu Morshed Chowdhury, president of the Cox's Bazar Chamber of Commerce and Industries attended as the special guest, reads a press release.
Addressing the event, the new president Sheikh Ashikuzzaman expected that the chapter will build on the momentum gained in 2022 and organize more projects and events to continue to positively impact the community.
Chief guest Shaimum Sarwar Kamal, in his speech, appreciated the local JCI chapter for making a significant impact in the region over the past year by shaping the youth into valuable members of society through a diverse range of activities.
Commodore Mohammed Nurul Absar expected that JCI Cox's Bazar will continue to make a positive impact on society by fostering a supportive community where young entrepreneurs can collaborate and learn from one another and succeed in their respective fields.
Cox's Bazar Chamber of Commerce and Industries President Abu Morshed Chowdhury expressed confidence that the chapter will become a platform for young and energetic individuals who will harness the resources available to them to contribute to the economy and drive positive changes in society.
The national president of JCI Bangladesh, Ziaul Haque Bhuiyan, shared an inspirational video with the new leadership of the Cox's Bazar chapter.
JCI National Secretary General M Kamrul Islam Chowdhury, and National Vice President and JCI Cox's Bazar mentor Tasnuva Ahmed attended the gala event.
The event was also attended by Cox's Bazar Press Club President Abu Taher, secretary M Mujibul Islam, immediate past leaders of JCI Cox's Bazar chapter and civil society members from the district.
The other members of JCI Cox's Bazar new committee are- immediate past local president Abu Farhan, Executive Vice President Abed Ahsan Sagar, vice presidents Monem Saleh Shezan and Tashin Lutfur, Secretary General Manowar Zishan, General Legal Counsel Amzad Mahmud, Treasurer Humayun Kabir Robel, Training Commissioner Faisal Siddiquee and directors Arifur Rahman, Nizam Uddin Ahmad, Md Imrul Shahed Chowdhury, Farah Tasnim Risha, and Abedin Sadi.
The first Cox's Bazar chapter of JCI was launched on March 31, 2022.
As a testament to the hard work and dedication in contributing to the development of the community, in its very first year, it was recognized with two prestigious awards- the Best Local Organization and 100% efficient Local Organization, reads the press release.
Two of its projects namely “Project Green Cox's Bazar” and “Project Icchche Puron” aimed at providing various facilities to the people of the community, such as washroom facilities in Madrasa, distribution of Eid clothes and carpets, also positively impacted the lives of many in the district.
Headquartered in Missouri, Saint Louis, in the United States, JCI is a global organization consisting of young active citizens between the ages of 18 and 40, engaged in the development activities of the society.
