Home minister: Efforts underway to root out militants

Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan on Wednesday said efforts are underway to root out militants.

“Our intelligence agencies, security forces, police and RAB are working with sincerity. As a result, we have been able to suppress the terrorists who emerged internationally and wanted to create chaos in our country,” he said.

The home minister was responding to questions from journalists after the Police Memorial Day ceremony at Mirpur Police Staff College in the capital.

Asaduzzaman Khan said all the political parties become active when the election approaches.

“The closer the election gets, the more political parties and people become enthusiastic,” he said.

The political situation has yet to heat up, and every political party is doing its own thing and there is no reason for the situation to get heated, he said.

Regarding letters sent from militant organizations about attacking different places at different times, the home minister said: “There are many such threats and we are working to identify every one of them.”

In the discussion, the home minister called upon policemen to fulfill their duties with honesty, sincerity and devotion.

“The police force has been working with the spirit of the Liberation War since the birth of Bangladesh. The police force will be a companion in the march of democracy,” he said.
